MY WORK
Here is a sampling of some of my other work that helped inform this project:
-
Gateway project: My first project in this minor
-
Keeping Score: An essay on growing up and loving baseball with my dad. Originally a project for my creative nonfiction class, I adapted it into a piece for Sweetland's literary journal, Writer to Writer. (See pages 15-18 of the issuu)
-
Women of the Cape League: Written for my internship with the Cape Cod Times, this front-page feature followed four women who played large roles in the Cape Cod Baseball League. Like After the Glass Ceiling, one of my main objectives of writing this piece was to put a spotlight on women in a field where women often go unnoticed.
-
Michigan Daily Women's History Month work: For four years I participated in The Daily's Women's History Month initiative, wherein female writers on the sports staff wrote features about female athletes and coaches at Michigan. For my junior and senior years, I was one of the people in charge of organizing the initiative. You can read my stories below:
-
Lesley Visser profile: Mentioned in the essay, this is the piece I wrote in USA TODAY after interviewing trailblazing sports journalist Lesley Visser last summer.
-
Saying the G word: My de facto senior goodbye column, in which I summed up all my complicated feelings about college and being a woman who didn't have the traditional experience of a woman at Michigan
